Terence Kongolo
The Dutch centre-back is an exciting young talent who has already emerged as one of the best defenders in the Eredivisie. He has played a vital part in Feyenoord’s strong start to the season and stood out in the side’s Europa League victory over Manchester United. It was a surprise to regular watchers of the Eredivisie that the defender stayed in the division for another season as he is certainly ready to test himself in a better league.
Kongolo has an impressive passing range, which enables him to launch attacks from deep. In this sense, he would be perfect for a Jurgen Klopp side, as the German likes to have centre-backs that are comfortable on the ball. Kongolo is dominant in the air and has the attributes to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League. Moreover, he rarely makes mistake due to his impressive concentration when on the pitch.
Liverpool currently have defensive issues and need to strengthen at the back in the coming windows. At the moment, Dejan Lovren has been starting at left-sided centre-back and he is one of the weak links in the first team. Despite his improvement under Klopp, the Croatian still has a mistake in him and isn’t good enough to be a starter for a top four side. Kongolo has the potential to grow into a fine centre-half and would benefit from working under Jurgen Klopp.
