It is no secret that Liverpool often keep a close eye on Southampton players and the central defender has been one of the top performers in the Premier League this campaign.

His composed style of bringing the ball out from the back whenever possible would fit well into the Liverpool system and his aerial strength would be welcome for the Reds, so Van Dijk could be a match made in heaven for the Anfield defence if they can see off interest from a host of other clubs.
