Hakim Ziyech
As a regular watcher of the Eredivisie, I am perplexed at the fact Hakim Ziyech has not been picked up this summer. His performances more or less kept FC Twente up last season, leading from the front after taking the captain’s armband. He is a dynamic attack-minded midfielder who can play on the right wing, but he is best in central areas.
Last term, he scored 17 goals and contributed 10 assists. Although the Eredivisie does have a reputation of producing ‘padded’ goal-scoring stats, Ziyech was playing in a poor side and performing to a consistent level.
He is a great set piece taker and is always a threat from range with his powerful strikes at goal. Ziyech is a player who has a great mentality and has remained loyal to FC Twente ensuring they stay in the Eredivisie during a difficult period. Leicester could secure him for a reasonable fee as FC Twente have financial difficulties that nearly saw them relegated.
They managed to reverse the decision to demote them, but they still need to generate funds and Ziyech is their biggest asset – he has the potential to develop into a £30-40 million footballer. Leicester should target him now, as he needs to move to a bigger league to continue his progression.
