Ashley Young
After featuring frequently under Louis van Gaal’s reign at Manchester United, Ashley Young’s career has taken a bit of a back seat since Jose Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford.
With the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata being preferred to Young at United, the 31-year-old could be set to look for a new club; and Hull City are allegedly one of six teams interested in signing the ex-Aston Villa midfielder.
Despite only having 368 minutes of football under his belt this season, Young is still a more than capable asset to a side with his crossing ability and midfield versatility.
There’s no reason why he couldn’t come into Hull and help bolster the centre of the park for the Tigers alongside star-man Robert Snodgrass – who has signed a new one-year extension on his contract to keep him at the KCOM Stadium until 2018 despite speculation.
With Phelan closely connected to Old Trafford after spending many years there with Sir Alex Ferguson, the Hull manager could utilise his contacts and persuade Young to join up with him again.
