Three Newcastle players who should force a January loan exit

Newcastle United have a busy January transfer period coming up.

The Magpies will be looking to bolster their squad but they might need to get rid of some players – both permanently and on loan – to generate funds.

Here are three Newcastle players who need to ask Rafa Benitez for loan exits this January.

With Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot also on their books, Newcastle do not need to keep Freddie Woodman as their fourth-choice goalkeeper.

The 21-year-old is a talented young stopper who needs another loan spell to push Dubravka next season.

Championship clubs are bound to be chasing the England under-21 international if he is made available.

Sean Longstaff recently signed a new long-term contract, which is a major boost for Newcastle.

The 21-year-old is on the verge of a first-team call-up and has been shining for the academy side.

The talented central midfielder has previously spent time with Kilmarnock and Blackpool but a Championship loan stint would do his development a lot of good.

Elias Sorensen has been in sensational form for Newcastle’s youth team this season, prompting many fans to call for a first-team promotion.

But Benitez seems reluctant to blood the Denmark under-21 international in prematurely.

After scoring 17 goals in youth football, the 19-year-old needs to test himself in senior football and a loan spell would allow him to stake a first-team claim.
