Adam Clayton
Clayton was Boro’s player of the year in the Championship last season and he hasn’t looked out of place in the top flight either.
The combative midfield produced typically gritty displays away at Sunderland and West Brom, sensing danger and making important interventions in front of the back four.
Last campaign Clayton and captain Grant Leadbitter were the heartbeat of Boro’s promotion winning side, however due to injury the latter has missed the opening fixtures.
Instead Clayton’s partnership with Adam Forshaw has looked just as fruitful, and the pair have combined well to help Boro acquire four points in their last two away games.
As a youth player, Clayton was released by his boyhood Manchester City so he will be keen to prove himself in the top flight.
He has certainly made an eye-catching and will no doubt be looking forward to Boro’s trip to the Etihad on November 5.
