Antonio Barragan
Despite originally being signed as a right back, Barragan has played in every position across the back four in Boro’s first three games and his versatility has been a real asset.
The Spanish defender has been the solution to a number of injury issues at the back. First he was asked to play at centre half, where he barely put a foot wrong against Stoke and Sunderland.
Away at West Brom he was switched to left back, due to an injury to first choice George Friend, and once again he made the transition seamlessly.
A £3 million signing from Valencia this summer, Barragan has plenty of experience at the top level, having racked up over 100 appearances in La Liga for the Spanish side.
Even so the 29-year-old’s adaptation to English football has been impressive and he hasn’t even started in his favoured position yet.
