After a pair of bad results with some exceptionally bad defending, Liverpool returned to winning ways and second place in the league with a classy 3-0 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
The increasingly exceptional Adam Lallana was superb, scoring twice in the win, with in-form striker Divock Origi grabbing another as the Reds avoided a potential banana skin against one of the league’s toughest defences.
Here are three interesting statistics to emerge from the game:
8 – Lallana and Origi team up
Adam Lallana and Divock Origi were the goalscoring heroes for Liverpool, the former scoring a double and the latter adding a fifth goal in as many games.
Lallana’s brilliant pass across the goal to Origi after a flowing move allowed Jurgen Klopp’s side to move into a two-goal lead, before eight minutes later, Origi returned the favour when his cross fell to the Englishman to put Liverpool 3-0 up.
Just eight minutes and one second elapsed between each player assisting the other. A fine display.
