9 – Kante who? Ndidi reigns supreme in midfield

For most of the current season, the large gaping hole in the middle of Leicester’s midfield has been all too obvious since N’Golo Kante left the Foxes to join Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Despite their efforts, Danny Drinkwater and Daniel Amartey (amongst others) have tried and failed to provide the defensive cover that the Frenchman did so effectively in Leicester’s title-winning campaign, but it became apparent that nobody could replicate the role that Kante played.

Step forward January signing Wilfred Ndidi, an arrival from Belgian side Genk, who finally announced himself in England with a dominate performance against Liverpool’s weakened midfield.

Ndidi made nine tackles last night, more than any Leicester player in any game this season, and also completed three interceptions, eight clearances and three blocks; it seemed that finally Leicester had found someone to give their defence the protection that they’ve been crying out for this season.
