Chelsea have been in indomitable form of late, and Diego Costa’s late strike against West Bromwich Albion have them a mightily impressive nine straight wins.
A draw for Liverpool and another defeat for Manchester City mean that the Blues, along with Arsenal, are pulling away slightly at the top of the league, as they look to regain the title they won in 2015.
Here are three key stats from their latest win:
5 – Chelsea won nine consecutive times in the Premier League for the fifth time
Chelsea’s win was their ninth on the spin in the Premier League, taking their points tally to an impressive 37 after 15 games.
This run is now the fifth time that Chelsea have managed nine wins in a row in the Premier League era, more than any other side.
It is their longest winning run since 2009, and the longest winning streak in a single Premier League season since Liverpool won 11 on the bounce in 2013/14.
The record for consecutive wins, though, still belongs to Arsenal’s 2002 vintage, with 14. The Blues are closing in on that now.
