19 – Tottenham give White Hart Lane the perfect send-off

After 118 years of football being played at White Hart Lane came to a close, it was perhaps quite fitting that Tottenham beat one of England’s most successful sides in Manchester United.

With this victory, the North London side also ensured that they will go unbeaten at home for the first time ever in the Premier League – and first time in a season since 1964/65.

Their run – which has entailed 17 wins from 19 matches – has been a prime reason as to why Spurs have challenged for the title for so long, with no side in the league able to compete at the Lane.

64 goals in just 19 games tells the story of how dominant Tottenham have been, winning five games by four goals or more, whilst their defence has back it up by only conceding a miserly 12 goals.

Victory over Manchester United also meant that they will end the season with 14 consecutive home victories, their best record since 1987, and it almost seems like the perfect goodbye for their ground.

With Tottenham’s poor record at Wembley in the few European matches that they’ve played there over the past seasons, they’ll have to adjust quickly if they want to be near the top again next year.
