666 – Middlesbrough’s ominous outlook
Six points adrift of safety in the relegation zone, six games left of the Premier League season to play and only six points earnt since the beginning of the calendar year – the signs are ominous for Boro.
For a short period of time after Alvaro Negredo’s equaliser they were on top on the night, posing more problems to Arsenal’s back-line than they were facing themselves – they just weren’t clinical.
Such has been the story of their season, the hosts couldn’t find the back of the net when they really needed to – they’ve only managed 23 goals across 32 Premier League matches – and even when they brought on Adama Traore he failed to add the cutting edge in the final third to put Boro ahead.
With only four wins to their name all season, and matches against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool still to come in their run-in, things are really beginning to look gloomy at the Riverside.
Before then, however, comes the small matter of Bournemouth and Sunderland within the space of four days next week; nothing more than six points will do otherwise it could be the end of their fight.
