Michael Carrick is well known for his unassuming manner on the pitch, playing the right pass at the right time and keeping the team ticking over. His importance to Manchester United is often overlooked but never over-exaggerated.

Since the start of the 2014-15 season, Carrick has played in 44 Premier League matches and missed 49. In the games he played, United have a winning percentage of 64%, compared to a meagre 39% without him.

It is clear to see who the difference maker is for the Red Devils.
