Three key statistics ahead of Liverpool vs Manchester City
Chelsea may be running away with the Premier League this season, but Liverpool and Manchester City sit closest to them in the standings six and seven points behind them respectively.
As the first half of the season draws to a close and we move into 2017, this game could be vital to launching one of these two teams on a hunt to reel in the Blues, while a defeat will certainly damage any title hopes.
Under the lights on New Year’s Eve at Anfield means this game promises to be a special one, especially with two of the most attacking teams in the league colliding.
Here are three key stats ahead of the game:
3 – Liverpool have the recent form
Manchester City may have had the upper hand in the Premier League standings over the Reds in recent years, but in terms of individual matches, Liverpool are on a pretty decent run against their opponents.
Liverpool have won the last three league meetings between the sides, winning 3-0 at home and 4-1 away under Jurgen Klopp last season as well as a 2-1 victory at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers in the spring of 2015.
In fact, City haven’t won at Anfield since 2003. They face a tough ask to change this fact on Saturday.
