Spurs and Harry Kane’s second goal – 51 minutes
After surviving the late scare in the first half, Spurs continued the second with the same attacking fluency that had given them an early lead.
The ball was quickly played from a central position into the path of a charging Trippier on the right flank, who instantly laid the ball to Eriksen in plenty of space.
Much like the first goal, a Trippier/Eriksen combo led to a Kane goal. The Dane again delivering a perfect cross, this time for his team-mate to attack between centre-halves and goalkeeper. Once more the prolific English forward timed his movement expertly to remain on-side and double Spurs’ lead.
The goal put the Premier League side firmly in control of the tie and caused Fulham to take greater risks in searching for a way back into the match. This provided Tottenham with opportunities to further extend their advantage, something which man of the match Kane succeeded in when completing his hat-trick in the 73rd minute.
Fulham didn’t perform badly but they came up against a Tottenham team determined to right the wrongs of Thursday night; an almost full-strength side playing with increasing confidence every time Harry Kane finished off a move.
Spurs can now look ahead to the 2nd leg of that European tie and an FA Cup quarter-final. Fulham will hope that Championship rivals drop points and enable them to close the nine point gap between themselves and the play-offs.
