Three key moments as Everton recorded a 2-0 win over Sunderland

Romelu Lukaku goal – 80 minutes

Only minutes after coming despairingly close to drawing level, Sunderland found the game was beyond them.

Following a Sunderland corner, in which they had committed most players forward, Romelu Lukaku received the ball on half-way. Using his strength and pace he eased past Oviedo, whose late slide tackle caused the Belgian’s shot to deflect beyond Jordan Pickford, into the net.

Everton’s top scorer had his 17th league goal of the season, drawing level with Duncan Ferguson’s club record of 60 Premier League goals.

The goal put the tie to bed, allowing Koeman to make defensive minded changes, whilst seeing the game out.

Moyes can take positives from much of his side’s defending, yet urgently needs to find attacking balance if Sunderland are to take three points from any of the crucial fixtures that remain.
