Arsenal’s first-half penalty
Alexis Sanchez has a habit of making the difficult things seem easy on the football pitch, but this time round he decided to make things interesting.
With Arsenal trailing by a goal to nil the referee awarded a penalty to the travellers following a kick by Robert Lewandowski on Laurent Koscielny.
With much to play for so early in the tie and a potential away goal on the line, Sanchez stepped up to take the spot-kick… only to see Neuer deny him. The rebound fell back to him, with Sanchez then hitting an air-shot that allowed three Bayern players to crowd around him.
With the chance all but gone, the Chilean then hit a stunning shot through the crowd, on the turn, and into Manuel Neuer’s bottom corner to award Arsenal the lifeline they’d hoped for in the first place.
