Three key fixtures that could define Southampton’s season between now and the New Year

This home tie against Spurs is the penultimate of 2016 for Southampton, as yet another home game against West Brom rounds out the year. If the Saints have put in good performances in the two above fixtures, and picked up a few hard earned points elsewhere over the course of November and December, expect them to eye up this fixture with three points as the objective. There is no love lost between the two sides, and coming so soon after another previous manager’s visit to St. Mary’s, the Saints faithful will have the bit between their teeth, so to speak, when it comes to cheering their side on. Spurs might prove a step too far though, depending on their own form of course. If Tottenham can keep Harry Kane fit and firing, then Puel’s task will not have become any easier.
