A potential top two clash could not come at a worse time for the Reds, with two matches in three days over the Christmas period meaning that Jurgen Klopp will be forced to rotate against his rival Pep Guardiola.

City will look to counter Liverpool’s pressing style and their defensive frailties will be exploited by the Citizens, so the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Phillipe Coutinho may have to be on top form.
