Aston Villa were mightily unlucky to miss out on promotion to the Premier League last season, but after losing 1-0 to Fulham in the Play-Off Final they face another campaign battling it out in the Championship.
The Villans have experienced a summer of uncertainty amid financial problems but with the club now sold on to new investors the optimism is starting to flow back into the veins of the supporters.

Boss Steve Bruce has been backed by the club’s new board of directors and he will now be tasked with ensuring that his best players remain at the club, whilst the ultimate ambition for the forthcoming campaign is promotion.
It won’t be easy for the club. Given the uncertainties behind the scenes they are weeks behind their rivals when it comers to signing players and Bruce knows that he will need to add some players to his squad before the deadline on August 9th.
With that in mind, we at The Boot Room look at three deals that could be completed this week…
Striking addition
Liverpool striker Ben Woodburn could be set to sign for Aston Villa this week after being made available for loan by Jurgen Klopp, according to the Telegraph.
The Wales international has been with the Reds on their pre-season tour of America but it seems that his immediate future lies away from Anfield, with Villa looking the most likely to obtain the player for the 2018/19 campaign.
There is little to doubt Woodburn’s potential and Bruce will hope that the versatile forward can hit the ground running in the Championship and help himself to plenty of goals.

A fan favourite to return?
Given that the club might have to watch the finances a little bit during this transfer window, loan moves might the most likely option for Aston Villa and the Birmingham Live are reporting that Robert Snodgrass could be on his way back to the club.
Snodgrass was instrumental for Villa last season as they finished in a play-off place and he adhered himself to the club’s supporters with seven goals and 14 assists in a solid campaign.
The Scotsman has featured quite regularly for West Ham during their pre-season campaign and any deal that sees him arrive back at Villa could go down the wire.
High profile departure
One topic of transfer discussion that looks like dragging on and on is the situation surrounding Jack Grealish’s future.
According to the Birmingham Live, Villa’s new owners have been adamant in their stance that none of the club’s players are for sale but as far as Grealish is concerned they might be forced to change tact a little bit.
Spurs are desperately keen to land the highly-rated youngster and although they might eventually admit defeat in their quest to land the 22-year-old given the valuation placed upon him by his current club, this is one transfer story that looks like rumbling on a little bit just yet.
