Kevin Mirallas
The Belgian has looked a totally different player so far this season.
I think it’s fair to say Mirallas didn’t exactly enjoy the past two seasons under Roberto Martinez, and I’m sure he’d say so if the Spaniard wasn’t the new Belgium national team manager.
Mirallas joined in 2012 under David Moyes and looked a real threat – in his first two Premier League seasons he played a part in 29 goals. However, after playing regularly in Martinez’s debut season at Goodison Park, he then found himself as a bit-part player for the 205/16 season, playing just 1,004 minutes, the least since the 2005/06 season as a 17-year-old.
Despite question marks being raised over his attitude, for me, Mirallas is a player I like to see involved and a lot of Evertonians tend to agree. He also, like Davies started the final game of last season under Unsworth, and like the rest of the team, he played freely.
He went on to score, only to display the biggest smile we’ve seen from him in two years, the managerial change has seen him revitalised into the player we all know he can be – even if we haven’t seen it enough.
So far this season, under Ronald Koeman, Mirallas has started in all three Premier League games and has added a goal. His goal, a wonderful team goal, provided the lift for Everton as they came from behind to beat West Brom 2-1.
Alongside Gerard Deulofeu and Aaron Lennon, the signature of Yannick Bolasie can only see Mirallas work harder than ever to wear Everton blue.
