It sure took the English striker a long time to get into his groove but in the last two matches, Wickham has banged in 4 goals. They were four goals typical of an out-and-out striker. Now, more than ever, is the ex-Sunderland man’s moment to shine.
Wickham’s goals will give him the confidence that was lacking up till now. Bolasie’s return should also provide Wickham with more service from the wings and more goalscoring opportunities.
Nothing is more valuable than a confident in-form striker. In matches against Bournemouth, Swansea, Watford, and Aston Villa, Alan Pardew has been left to rue missed chances. If he can forge a partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor, the club will surely be able to turn their season around and make a late season push.
