2. Yohan Cabaye
Palace’s poster-boy has faded in recent matches. The Frenchman has had a respectable first season and has helped the club transition their style of play into a more cultivated and patient style of football. Less long balls and more build up play have been the order this season much thanks to Cabaye’s efforts; however, as the going has got tough, Cabaye’s impact on matches has notably diminished.
Against West Brom and Sunderland he was constantly battered in midfield. While the constant fouling on him should’ve been dealt with by the referee, Cabaye has gone down easily at time and lacked strength and sharpness.
Since Christmas, Cabaye’s passing has gone down, in accuracy and numbers. One assist all season from a center mid is not good enough for a club record signing.
With Connor Wickham finally hitting form, Cabaye has to do more than just keep the ball moving. He has to be more incisive and more creative in the final third to get his assist tally up. Arguably the most talented and proven player in the Eagles’ side, Yohan Cabaye has to lead by example and truly match his price tag.
