Bernd Leno is a player who divides opinion in the Arsenal fanbase.
The German international has had a mixed season between the sticks for the Gunners. Whilst Leno has been a saviour at times, the 28-year-old has been at fault for goals that have cost Arsenal points.

His mistake against Everton saw the Toffees claim their first win in the red side of north London since 1996.
Combine this with Emi Martinez having an outstanding debut year for Aston Villa a year after leaving the Gunners, and you can see why some supporters have not keen on Leno.

And this summer could see the former Bayer Leverkusen number one leave Arsenal.
The Telegraph report that Leno is likely to leave this transfer window. Furthermore, Mikel Arteta has also heavily linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana this week as reported by the Daily Mail.

With Leno’s future at Arsenal uncertain, who could the German keeper realistically join this summer should the 28-year-old seek an exit from the Premier League side?
VfL Wolfsburg
After six years, VfL Wolfsburg are back in the UEFA Champions League after the Bundesliga side claimed a top-four spot in the German top-flight.

Die Wolfe were one of the most enjoyable teams to watch in Germany last season. With Wout Weghorst thriving in attack with John Anthony Brooks and Maxence Lacroix forming a formidable defensive partnership.
Yet between the sticks, Koen Casteels could be improved upon. And that’s where Leno comes in. The German international would be a fantastic improvement on the Wolfsburg number one. And given his injury history, the club might be eager into making a move for the Arsenal star.
Villarreal CF
Unai Emery was the one who brought Leno to Arsenal in the summer of 2018. And with the Spaniard recently guiding Villarreal CF to the Champions League via the UEFA Europa League, the former Gunners boss could be open to reuniting with the German international.

Villarreal didn’t have an established number one keeper. Sergio Asenjo and Geronimo Rulli made 20+ appearances each in all competitions for the Spanish side.
In Leno, Villarreal would have a keeper with the quality to potentially overtake both Asenjo and Rulli and to become the club’s permanent number one.
Benfica
A potential wildcard destination for Leno could be Benfica, who will likely be active in the summer transfer market.

The Portuguese giants are set to lose keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos this summer according to A Bola. Benfica are also one of the few clubs that could afford Leno’s reported weekly wage of £100,000 according to Spotrac.
Sports Pro reported last March that Benfica achieved a record €104m in profit. And with a new keeper likely on the agenda this summer, Leno could find himself a new home in Lisbon.
