Somewhat remarkably, Gary Cahill has gone through the majority of this season without criticism.

Whilst John Terry looks like he will be shunted out the door this summer, Cahill has been awarded a new contract and the ex-Villa defender must be wondering how he has been so fortunate.

Previously a rock in the Chelsea defence, Cahill rightly lost his place to Zouma earlier in the season and has now returned to the XI by default.

Cahill is likely to start for England at the Euros this summer, but one of Conte’s first signings should be a centre-back to slot in next to Kurt Zouma once the Frenchman returns from his horrific injury.
