Recall Jack Colback
The midfielder has had an indifferent past 12 months and is no longer considered a regular at St James’ Park. There are plenty of options for the central midfield positions, but Colback still has an important role this season. He started both away matches in August and he should play at Pride Park on Saturday. In the match against Bristol City, Colback’s performance went unnoticed, but he was superb and played a key role in Newcastle’s win.
Benitez set up to frustrate Bristol City and counter attack when possession was won. Colback was central to this and he recorded some very impressive defensive stats during the game. He made six tackles, won nine duels and recovered the ball four times. His tenacity and work rate make him a great option when away from home, which Benitez recognises. Derby have one of the best midfields in the league and are likely to dominate possession. As a result, starting Colback would be a good move as Newcastle are going to need players that are able to retrieve the ball in key areas.
