This will, without doubt, be the biggest decision that Jose Mourinho will have to make. Let’s not shy away from it, Wayne Rooney has been abysmal at the start of this season and he doesn’t deserve to be walking straight into the starting line-up week-after-week.

Our manager is not afraid of making big calls, and that’s something that Mourinho prides himself on. He’d be doing the club an injustice if he doesn’t take his captain out of the limelight at the moment, because he just isn’t performing to a high enough level.

Watching Wayne Rooney fade so dramatically over the last twelve months has been absolutely gutting. He just looks so slow and he cannot pick a pass to save his life. It’s only a matter of time before Mourinho realises he’s costing the side.
