Franco Vazquez
According to Sky Sports, this move may already be in the pipeline. Vazquez is a versatile attacker, who can be deployed in the centre or on the right-hand-side behind the striker, as well as upfront. This is well suited to Pochettino’s mantra, who likes his players to be able to play in more than one position. Last season he scored eight goals, and created a further seven, showing he is able to influence the game greatly in the final third – something despite the plethora of talent available to Pochettino, Tottenham struggled to do at times last season.
Vazquez is a very willing dribbler of the ball, giving Tottenham a slightly more direct option in the attacking areas. Question marks have been raised over his suitability to Tottenham’s high press system, but it is something he could eventually fit into. Also, Vazquez is 27 years of age, which is slightly older than the players Pochettino has being trying to bring into the squad. However, there are no concerns over the calibre of the player, as he has the talent required to add that extra bit of quality, whether that be from the bench, or from the start of games.
