Three areas Chelsea need to strengthen in January to win the title

In October, after defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, few would have predicted that Chelsea would be the Christmas table toppers and title favourites. That turnaround has been superb for the Blues as Antonio Conte’s new system has worked wonders and his team are still unbeaten playing with that set-up.

That said, those opening weeks showed the weaknesses in his squad. After a dismal season under Jose Mourinho last campaign, a number of key men have returned to form, but there also lacks the depth and quality required if Chelsea are to see out a title challenge successfully.

With the challenge of European football highly likely to return next season even if the quest for the title is unsuccessful, Conte is likely considering how to add depth to his squad already, but first he must win the Premier League given their current position.
