Cedric Soares (Southampton)
A slightly lower key choice, but Cedric has developed well at St Mary’s since the departure of Nathaniel Clyne and made Portugal’s European Championship squad. Again, at 25 years of age, Cedric has room to develop further but already has plenty of Premier League football under his belt.
Only Leicester and Spurs have accumulated more points that the Saints this year, and only Tottenham have conceded fewer goals. Cedric has played his part in that, and Southampton play a front-foot, positive brand of football which mimics what he might face at City. In 24 league appearances last season, he averaged seven defensive actions per game and won 52% of his duels. A pass completion rate of 69% is on the scratchy side, but this could be ironed out in a different set up at City.
