Three alternatives to Alexandre Lacazette that West Ham should sign this summer

3. André-Pierre Gignac (Tigres)

The French international has been heavily linked with a move back to Europe after a sterling season in Mexico with Monterrey club Tigres, where he notched 28 league goals in a mere 39 Liga MX games, and already has two goals in three games in the new Mexican league season. His move to the Americas was a surprising one, Gignac making the move across the Atlantic in the summer of 2015 despite having scored 21 goals in 38 Ligue 1 games for Olympique de Marseille in 2014/15.

Gignac also helped his country reach the final of Euro 2016 this summer, and his prolific league form out in Mexico may make him the ideal signing for the Hammers who desperately need goals in their side. With his former Marseille teammates Dimitri Payet and now Andre Ayew both at the club already, the Hammers could restore the former Ligue 1 attacking trio which plundered a wealth of goals at the Stade Vélodrome.

Given how Gignac has excelled in the Liga MX however, it is unlikely that Tigres will allow him to leave on the cheap, and the signing of the Frenchman may well depend on the level of fee which he would command, if his club were to be prepared to part with their asset at all.
