New Arsenal signing, Thomas Partey, has been speaking for the first time since becoming a Gunner and has revealed the role that both Edu and Mikel Arteta played in him signing.
After a huge wait over the summer, Arsenal finally acted and paid the release clause of Partey to Atletico Madrid just before the deadline.

The move brought to an end months of ‘will-he, won’t he’ speculation about the Ghanaian. It also meant Arsenal opting for Partey over the signing of Houssem Aouar, who ended up staying in Lyon.
And Partey, speaking to Goal, has revealed it was indeed the vision of Edu and Mikel Arteta that clinched the deal for him.
“I think it’s a great challenge and I want to experience new challenges. Him (Arteta) and Edu, they told me about their plans and it was so exciting. So I had to accept it.”
Gunners fans have been waxing lyrical about Partey ever since the deal was confirmed, with some Arsenal fans convinced he could be one of the missing pieces of the first XI jigsaw at the club.

The Ghana star could well make his debut this weekend against Manchester City. Indeed, he has already hinted he could be ready to step immediately into the fold if needed.

It’s easy to get hung up on systems and taking time to fit into plans and of course there is an element of that. But Partey is so good that he should just be able to slot straight in.
He’s an experienced player and someone who possesses enough quality. Over time, yes, he might need to learn a bit more about things but there’s no doubt he can come in and do a job against City if he’s needed.
Expect the Ghana ace to at least be in the squad this weekend.
