Partey and Marquinhos were so impressed with Arsenal's Xhaka yesterday

Arsenal returned to the top of the table with a fantastic 5-0 win over struggling Nottingham Forest.

The goals were shared among the Gunners attackers as they returned to their best after Thursday’s defeat to PSV Eindhoven.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the first five minutes, before a brace from Reiss Nelson.

Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard rounded off the goals, but there were fantastic performances across the pitch.

Mikel Arteta will be glad to see his side keep another clean sheet as he once again went with an unchanged back line.

His decision to start Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of Kieran Tierney was justified on this occasion.

After the match, Partey and young winger Marquinhos were clearly very impressed with midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The pair responded to a post from Xhaka on social media as he celebrated his 200^th Premier League appearance.

The Swiss international played 75 minutes before being substituted for Eddie Nketiah.

Xhaka took to Instagram after Arsenal’s win to celebrate the result, posting a photo of him and his teammates celebrating Partey’s goal.

The 30-year-old used the caption: “Thanks to the whole team for marking my 200^th Premier League game in style.”

Marquinhos replied to the midfielder, simply calling him ‘Magic’, while his midfield partner Partey loved his performance.

Xhaka has been a changed played under Mikel Arteta this season, thriving in his new more advanced role.

However, the form he’s currently in makes it very difficult to drop him right now.

Partey and Marquinhos aren’t the only people who have been impressed with Xhaka.

Xhaka has just two more Premier League games to help his side stay top of the table before the World Cup break.
