Thomas Frank wants to use Archie Gray in a position he’s only played in seven times for Tottenham

Thomas Frank is the new Tottenham manager, and it’s fair to say there’s plenty of intrigue around how Spurs could get on under their new gaffer.

Frank arrives at Tottenham after a lengthy spell at Brentford, and there are a few Spurs players who could benefit from his arrival.

Frank wanted Djed Spence at Brentford at one point, so perhaps he could become a key player from this point onwards.

Meanwhile, Brentford almost signed Archie Gray before he joined Spurs too, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on We Are Tottenham TV, Thomas Frank already has a pretty strong view on where Gray should play.

Thomas Frank wants to use Archie Gray in midfield

According to Jacobs, Thomas Frank sees Archie Gray as a midfield player.

Gray has played in numerous positions for Tottenham over the past 12 months including right-back, left-back and centre-half.

Gray prefers playing in midfield, so the new manager should hopefully get the best out of the youngster.

“I think a number six is important, but Archie Gray could get pushed into this position. I was always told that when Brentford looked like they were signing Gray, and then Tottenham came in and hijacked that deal, Thomas Frank was at Brentford at that time, and he felt that Archie Gray was a midfielder, but at Leeds he was a right-back who could play at centre-back,” Jacobs said.

Gray has been a Tottenham player for a year at this point, and during that time, he has been a regular for Spurs.

The teenager played 46 games for Tottenham last season, but, remarkably, only seven of those appearances came as a midfielder.

Gray has been unable to showcase his ability properly during this time as he’s been unable to settle into one particular position.

Now, under a new manager, Gray will hopefully get a chance to play more regularly in his favourite position and become a star at Tottenham.
