Thomas Frank faces awkward Micky van de Ven chat after Tottenham’s latest £50m bid

Tottenham Hotspur could be about to make a signing which makes things rather awkward for Micky van de Ven, given an incident which happened last season.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to finally step up their transfer business this summer and have just submitted a bid worth £50m for one of Thomas Frank’s top targets.

Mathys Tel is Spurs’ only signing up until this point. But now the Lilywhites are working to bring another top attacker to North London.

However, the player in question has some rather sour history with Tottenham’s Dutch defender, and the Danish manager will face a slightly awkward chat if he does arrive.

Micky van de Ven’s clash with Mohammed Kudus

Micky van de Ven and Mohammed Kudus’ first meeting could get rather awkward following the pair’s clash during last season’s meeting between Tottenham and West Ham.

The Ghanaian international was shown a red card after flinging his arms into the face of the Spurs defender and his teammate, Pape Matar Sarr.

Kudus twice kicked out at Van de Ven on the floor after they came together whilst contesting for the ball, and of course, the 24-year-old took exception to this.

The incident sparked a flare-up between both sets of players, and Kudus then raised his hands in the face of Sarr, which VAR thought was a red.

It’s unlikely that the Tottenham players, including Van de Ven and Sarr, will have forgotten about the incident, and Kudus may need to immediately try to repair any damage.

The North London club had a similar incident when Richarlison signed, with the Brazilian having had a previous history of clashing with Cristian Romero.

Luckily, the duo were able to quickly squash any bad blood, and the Spurs players were able to have a good laugh about the incident.

Tottenham see £50m Mohammed Kudus bid rejected

It’s looking increasingly likely that the West Ham forward could end up being a Spurs player, as they have just seen a £50m bid rejected for him

But Kudus is now prioritising a move to Tottenham, and the North London club are expected to make a return bid for him in the coming week.

TBR Football understands that West Ham want around £65m for Kudus, and Daniel Levy will now need to up his bid for the attacker.

Levy really rates Kudus and is confident that Frank can help transform the 24-year-old into a star at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
