Newcastle United are going to talk with candidates for the Magpies director of football role this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The new Newcastle owners have already made a big decision at St James’ Park in appointing Eddie Howe as their new manager.
This week, the Magpies also announced that Howe’s backroom team had been finalised.

A number of high-profile figures have been linked with the role, including Michael Emenalo, Luis Campos, Michael Edwards and Jason Wilcox.
Of those, Emenalo is now looking like the front-runner – according to Eurosport, he’s confident of landing the Newcastle role.
Romano, speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, spoke about Emenalo as well as the next steps Newcastle could take in pursuit of a new director of football.
“Yes, he’s one of the possibilities,” said Romano.

“They’re going to decide on their director in some days, they’re going to meet with some directors this week.
“Emenalo is one of them, so let’s see what they will decide who is the right man to build this new Newcastle project.”
Emenalo made his name at Chelsea, working as their sporting director between 2011 and 2017.
The 56-year-old is currently a free agent, having left Monaco in 2019.
