'This package, you don't find very often': Liverpool coach says Reds have a player who's 'absolutely unbelievable'
Liverpool assistant manager Peter Krawietz has waxed lyrical about the “unbelievable” Sadio Mane.
The 28-year-old joined the Anfield ranks from Southampton five years ago this month.
Mane has made 218 competitive appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, registering 97 goals and 43 assists.
Admittedly, last season wasn’t the easiest for Mane amid inconsistent form, but he finished the campaign strongly.
Mane registered four goals and four assists in Liverpool’s last 10 Premier League games to help secure a Champions League spot.
Liverpool have a player with “unique” qualities
Speaking to the Liverpool media team, Krawietz described how excited they were to sign the Senegal international.
Asked whether Mane was exactly what the Reds needed at the time, he replied: “Of course.
“This was our first impression and as we saw over the last five years with what an amazing player Sadio is, we were absolutely right with our first impression.
“And, at the same time, we were surprised with how well he developed during his time in Liverpool.
“We were really, really excited about him because his qualities are unique, I have to say.
“Sadio is a player with every, every, every possibility in attacking: his one-v-one skills, his speed, left or right, his finishing.
“This package, you don’t find very often.
“This combination of strength, endurance, speed, one-v-one skills, left wing or right wing or in the centre: he is able to do pretty much everything.
“In combination with his attitude, this is an absolutely unbelievable package.”
Liverpool struggled last season but finished strongly and, with key players back, will look to make amends in 2021-22.
Mane was one of many Reds stars who weren’t quite at their best but he’s sure to have a much better season this time round.
