‘This needs to happen’: Some fans react after hearing who Everton have been linked with

A number of Everton fans have given their thoughts on the speculation linking the Goodison Park outfit with Daryl Dike.

Eurosport claims that the Toffees have sent scouts to monitor the United States international, who’s currently on loan at Barnsley from Orlando City.

Dike has made a big impression with the Tykes, scoring five goals in 11 appearances to fire the club into the Championship playoff places.

One of those goals was a fierce effort from a tight angle against Birmingham, a strike which manager Valerien Ismael described as “something unbelievable”.

The 20-year-old’s loan spell finishes on 21 April, as he is due to return to Orlando in time for the new MLS season.

However, Dike has made such an impact for Barnsley in such a short space of time that he’s emerged as a potential target for English sides.

BBC Sport claimed earlier in March that a Premier League top-six team made a $10million bid (£7.2million) for Dike, which was turned down by Orlando.

The 6ft 2in forward is said to have a $20million (£14.5million) release clause, a fee which would certainly be in Everton’s price range.

Dike seems to have the right credentials and potential – teammate Jordan Williams has compared him to Romelu Lukaku – as well as plenty of years ahead of him.
