Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been described as a “legend” by Arsenal midfielder and fellow Egypt international Mohamed Elneny.

The Reds attacker has been sensational for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his move to Anfield from Roma in 2017.

Salah has made 192 competitive appearances for Liverpool, scoring 119 goals and registering 45 assists.

During his time on Merseyside, the 28-year-old has lifted the Premier League title, the Champions League trophy, the UEFA Supercup and the Club World Cup.

And Elneny believes that his compatriot is African football’s greatest ever player, above the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure.

“Mohamed Salah is a legend now in Egypt and he’s still playing,” he told Arsenal’s YouTube channel.

“We know that legends are usually when they finish their careers but when they’re still playing and people look at you as a legend this is something big. He’s a really good guy.

“Toure, because he’s a midfielder I know what he’s doing and I know how it’s different, because it’s more difficult than a striker.

Strikers get the chance to score all the time and midfielders have to do so many things… but of course I go for Mohamed Salah!”

Salah’s statistics speak for themselves – he has been sensational for Liverpool and for Egypt, and Elneny is absolutely right to call him a legend.

Sure, the Reds haven’t had the best of seasons, but Salah has still bagged 25 goals this term.

And once the team has had a chance to regroup, no doubt he’ll be in line for more silverware in the coming years.
