Arsenal fans admit that they are hopeful again in the chase for Manuel Locatelli after Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.
Hope re-ignited
Speaking to his Youtube channel, Romano suggested that Arsenal could well still have a chance at landing the Italian midfielder.
There had been some suggestions that Locatelli had outright rejected Arsenal.
But Romano insists that isn’t the case, and that he just has Juventus as his first choice.
“Let me clarify that Locatelli is NOT refusing Arsenal, he is not turning down the opportunity of joining Arsenal. He is just giving his priority to Juventus,” Romano said.
“Arsenal are still there. They’re interested and they’re waiting – they want Locatelli as they consider him as the perfect midfielder for Premier league football. I’m sure he’ll leave Sassuolo this summer – let’s see if it’ll be Juve/Arsenal/something surprising.”
The latest update means that Arsenal are largely reliant on Juve failing to agree with Sassuolo.
But Gunners fans do have hope, and there are many who are desperate for the transfer to go ahead.
Good news
If Arsenal were to sign Locatelli there is an expectation that he would slot straight into their midfield.
The Sassuolo man was one of the stars of Euro 2020, with his box to box performances helping his side lift the trophy.
And he could well be an ideal partner for Thomas Partey in the heart of Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
