Towards the end of Leeds United’s 1-0 loss against Sheffield United on Saturday, Pontus Jansson looked in trouble. The Leeds defender was hobbling around the pitch before eventually going in goal when Kiko Casilla was sent off.
Leeds fans have been anxiously awaiting the extent of Jansson’s knee injury and The Yorkshire Post has provided an update: Jansson has dropped out of the Sweden squad.
The 28-year-old was due to team up with Sweden for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Romania and Norway but he will instead undergo treatment on his knee injury.
Whether or not he will be fit to face Millwall after the international break is yet to be confirmed but it is worrying update for Leeds fans.
The Swedish international has been a rock at the back for his team and has provided a threat from set-pieces too. And given his passion, he has become a fan favourite as well.
Leeds fans have taken to social media to express their worry about this situation, with some others hopeful that resting up will help him recover in time for Millwall.
Knowing how much promotion means to both the club & Jansson himself, it’s gonna take something very serious to keep him on the sideline. Hoping for good news in time for Millwall.

Good for these reasons we can get him fit and not agitate it further 👍
