Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has been heralded after saving Everton defender Yerry Mina’s penalty at the Copa America last night.
Martinez helped Argentina make it to the final of the competition in a shoot out, as the Villa goalkeeper continues to impress on the international stage now.
Mina showed great confidence earlier in the competition when he scored from the spot.
And the Everton defender seemed determined to get into the head of Martinez before taking his kick.
The pair were caught conversing with each other, before Martinez allegedly predicted that he knew exactly where Mina was going to shoot.
Martinez’s words were then backed up by his actions, as he dived to his left and stopped Mina’s spot kick.
It was a piece of play which has received adulation from supporters of all sides.
And Villa fans will surely love to see their goalkeeper making such a splash on the international stage.
What a signing
Martinez’s performance in the penalty shoot out just shows how he has grown since moving to Villa.
The stopper has been incredible in his first season with Dean Smith’s side, after joining from Arsenal.
Argentina will now take on Brazil in the Copa America final, where Martinez looks set to have a key role to play again.
