Arsenal take on Brentford this evening as the curtain raises on the Premier League season, although they’ll be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the clash.

The Gunners skipper is apparently missing through illness, with fellow striker Alexandre Lacazette also set to miss out.

Aubameyang was hoping to get the nod up top as he looked to banish the demons of last season. The Gabon star scored just the ten Premier League goals, a total which many Arsenal fans felt was poor.

However, rather than seeing the news about Aubameyang as a negative, some Gunners fans seem to think it could actually be a blessing in disguiuse.

Twitter was awash with comments reacting to the news. And, as mentioned, there seems to be an air of optimism about Aubameyang being out. It could mean chances for the likes of Folarin Balogun or Gabriel Martinelli in attack, then.

Here, then, is how some Arsenal fans viewed the news about Aubameyang being missing against Brentford this evening.
