West Ham United have confirmed that Winston Reid has left the club to join Kansas City in the MLS on a loan deal.
Reid hasn’t played for the Hammers in the Premier League since the 2017/18 campaign, where he managed 17 appearances in claret and blue.
The decision to allow Reid to move away from the club will allow the New Zealand star to get some much-needed game-time under his belt.
Reid joined West Ham in 2010 and has gone on to make just shy of 200 appearances for the club. However, injuries have ravaged the last few years of his time in East London.
But despite the club seemingly acting in his best interests, some West Ham fans are not happy with how one of their stalwarts has been treated by the club.
Indeed, plenty of Hammers fans have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns at how the situation with Reid has been handled.
It appears that the struggled of the current first-team and Reid’s status with the club mean Hammers fans feel he deserved a tad more respect from the club.
Absolute disgraceful treatment of a club stalwart. When fit he is a beast in defence. Board should hang their head in shame.

About time. The absolute disrespect shown to one of our longest servants. This club is a joke

One Hammer felt the board was trying to avoid their duties to offer him a testimonial.
Board trying to get rid so he doesn’t have a testimonial

Meanwhile, other Hammers felt the club could do with Reid in defence at the moment.
Shocking decision. We can’t defend at the moment and letting Reid go out on loan when to be honest I’ll take him at the back.

IMO if he’s fit… he should be in the match day squad.

Better late then never to announce it 🙄, hope he gets the game time he needs then comes back to us. Our best defender for sure!

Troubling times at West Ham – TBR View
It seems whatever happens at West Ham these days, it is met with disharmony amongst fans.
The decision to allow Reid to leave is, on the surface, a sensible one for the player. He’ll get minutes and might well be able to return to the club to prove his worth.
However, it appears the club have missed a trick in paying proper respects to Reid. Given his near ten years of service, it’s little surprise, then, that Hammers fans aren’t too impressed.
