‘Thing of beauty’, ‘out of this world’: Some Everton fans in awe of what £18m ace did last night

A number of Everton fans have been praising Lucas Digne’s display on Wednesday as Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees triumphed at Goodison Park.

Everton hosted Leicester hoping to continue on their impressive run since the restart, during which they held Liverpool to a draw and won at Norwich.

It didn’t take long for the Toffees to break the deadlock on Merseyside, Richarlison firing home from close range in the 10th minute.

Digne provided a simply sublime header from the left into the path of Anthony Gordon, who duly cut back for the Brazilian to smash into the back of the Foxes net.

Everton then doubled their lead from the penalty spot 16 minutes in, Gylfi Sigurdsson converting from 12 yards after a VAR review for handball against Wilfred Ndidi from Digne’s free kick.

While the second half proved tougher for the Toffees, Kelechi Iheanacho halving the deficit in the 51st minute, the hosts held on for all three points.

As well as impressing up the flank, Digne was defensively sound once again, and plenty of Everton fans raved about the £18million man, with particular focus on his superb header for Gordon.
