Thierry Henry has told Robbie Fowler’s podcast that he would be open to discussing a potential move to Celtic as Neil Lennon’s permanent replacement – stating that the Hoops are a club that he respects a lot.
Celtic are still yet to hire a manager following Lennon’s resignation, with John Kennedy taking over on an interim basis. The caretaker boss is one of the favourites, while the likes of Eddie Howe, Enzo Maresca, Frank Lampard and Roy Keane are linked.
Henry, 43, is now looking for his third club to manage having taken over at Monaco and Montreal Impact – in which he struggled to replicate the successes of his playing career. He has also worked in Arsenal’s youth set-up, and as Belgium’s assistant boss.
Out of work, Henry was asked by Fowler if he had applied for the Celtic job and whether he would take over and become a direct rival to Steven Gerrard at Rangers – and Henry responded by stating he would consider and job, and that he respects Celtic.
“Whatever is going to come my way I’m going to try to evaluate. I’m sure they’re going to work on what they’re going to work on,” Henry said. “I don’t know what’s happening there, this is a club I respect a lot, but that I don’t know about.”

TBR’s view – Henry is the kind of manager Celtic need
Yes, he has struggled at Monaco and Montreal – clocking up only 49 games as a senior manager. But what is key is that Celtic need a manager with a big name, one with the reputation and calibre to tempt better players to Parkhead this summer.
Gerrard did just that at Rangers. He tempted the likes of Steven Davis, Jermain Defoe, Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Connor Goldson and more to Ibrox – vastly improving Rangers. Celtic need to improve their recruitment and Henry would massively benefit that.
