Thierry Henry delivers verdict on Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been praised by Thierry Henry, who revealed he was a “massive fan” of the Reds ace.

The 31-year-old joined Liverpool in 2011 from Sunderland for a reported £20million fee.

Although Henderson came under some criticism in his early days, he’s etched his name in Anfield folklore.

The England international has lifted the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Supercup and Club World Cup with Liverpool.

Henderson has surpassed the 400-appearance mark for the Reds and penned a new contract at Anfield in summer.

Henry, speaking on Amazon Prime as Liverpool beat Everton on Wednesday believes the Liverpool skipper is an inspiration for his drive and attitude.

“There is something I want to say about Henderson,” said Henry. “He reminds me of Gareth Barry or a James Milner.

“I remember when he started. I didn’t think that he would be the player that he is. He’s not a guy you mention first when you talk about Liverpool.

“But I do and I do with some young kids because you all can’t be Mo Salah. You all can’t be Messi.

“But if you work hard, work ethic, your mind is in it and you are professional, then you can become Henderson.

“You can become the guy that lifts the trophy that Liverpool was waiting for a long time. The Premier League trophy.

“He was the guy. Liverpool winning the Champions League, he was lifting it.

“I know a lot of people won’t mention him. But this is the type of guy that you can try to copy – I am a massive fan of him.”
