Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has given his verdict on French countrymen Alexandre Lacazette and Matteo Guendouzi, in terms of their club form and hopes of making it to Euro 2020.

As per Goal, he expressed he was a fan of the two players but was not sure if they would be able to beat the competition to get into Didier Deschamps’ summer squad.

He said: “I always liked Lacazette as a No. 9 but the most important thing is that Didier likes him. All I can tell you is what I see, like I’ve been doing for a little while, for Lyon and Arsenal. He’s a goalscorer but competition is massive in France to play up front.

“I saw him (Guendouzi) also at the Under-21 European Championship where he played on and off. He’s been doing well with Arsenal. Is he going to make the Euro or not? I don’t know. The competition is massive in midfield. But it’s a great experience for him to be able to go and play some games, just being in and around the team.”

TBR’s View – Arsenal pair might be swimming against the tide to make it to Euro 2020

There’s no doubt that the pair have been among Arsenal’s best players this season but they are competing with world champions to force their way into Deschamps’ plans for the coming summer.

That’s a tough ask – as Henry eludes to – and it’s trickier to stake your claim without playing in the Champions League at a club in a state of flux right now.
