Thierry Henry backs Harry Kane to break Shearer record

Thierry Henry has insisted to UMM that Harry Kane is one of the best finishers the Premier League has seen, claiming that the Spurs star will smash the Premier League record belonging to Alan Shearer.

Of course, much of the talk this summer has centred about Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For many neutrals, it would be particularly disappointing if the England captain left for another league.

The 27-year-old is perfectly poised to rival Shearer for his record for most Premier League goals of all-time.

The Remarkable Truth Behind This Viral Photograph

Shearer has 260 strikes to his name. Kane meanwhile, is currently on 166. So should he stay in England, the Spurs talisman could be there or thereabouts in the next four or five years.

One player he will soon overtake – depending on what his future holds – is Henry.

And during an interview, it was put to the former Arsenal star that Kane is one of the best finishers the Premier League has ever seen.

“Yes, I will go with that,” he told UMM. “People thought that he was going to be a one-season wonder I remember early doors. Then they were like: ‘oh, let’s see if he’s going to do it for two years’. Then he did it for two years, they were like: ‘now let’s see if he can do it for England’.

“Well, listen, now nobody can talk about that. It’s not the subject anymore. Is he? Yes, he is. I said so many times, I think I said it four years ago that he will smash Alan Shearer’s record if he stays in England because he’s that good.”

Impossible to argue with Thierry Henry’s view on Harry Kane – he could soon be closest rival to Shearer

Henry is unquestionably one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen. Many would argue he is number one.

So it is impossible to argue with his view on Kane.

The Spurs star has scored at least 17 goals in the top flight during the last seven seasons. At his peak, he hit 30 in one year – with 41 coming in all competitions.

Much will depend on what his future holds. But should he stay in England, it will not be long until Shearer is the only player standing between Kane and the Premier League record.
