Thiago Silva looks like the one that got away for Everton

Everton are currently now struggling in the Premier League.

The Toffees flew out of the traps, winning their first four games in the competition.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now without victory in their last four, losing the last three in a row.

There have been no issues on the goalscoring front, but something that will be of particular concern for Ancelotti is the lack of clean sheets.

Everton have just one shut-out in the league this season, which came against Tottenham on the opening day of 2020/21.

Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have actually impressed generally, but the statistics are a little alarming.

Arguably Everton have needed an experienced head at the back, and they may now be regretting not signing Thiago Silva.

Everton reportedly (Calciomercato) held talks with the player during the last transfer window, with Ancelotti having previously worked with the Brazilian.

A move was not to be though, and Silva headed to west London.

He had a debut to forget, but since his lapse againt West Brom, Silva has been in fine fettle for the Londoners.

Recently the £110,000-a-week star (Spotrac) and former Everton loanee Kurt Zouma have forged a great partnership.

He’s contributed to five clean sheets in all competitions for the Blues this season, and looks very much like a player Everton and their leaky backline could have done with.
